His appointments include Head of Production of Industrial Organic Chemicals at Riedel-de Haen AG, Germany and Director of Research and Development Chemical Specialties with AlliedSignal and Pharmaceutical Fine Chemicals with Honeywell Inc..
His operational experience comprises the full development stages of organic products from route selection to tons production.
Dr. Bartels founded ASM Research Chemicals in 2005 as a laboratory services company, which is involved in the development of synthetic routes for novel organic compounds and lab scale custom manufacturing.
Dr. Frank Nerenz
Managing Director
Dr. Frank Nerenz graduated (M.Sc.) from Professor G. Dyker’s group at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, working on Pd-catalyzed domino-coupling processes. In 1997 his Ph.D. thesis was completed under Professor E. Winterfeldt at Hannover University, Germany, titled “Low molecular weight marine natural products with biological activity”.
Afterwards he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI (USA) with Professor Daniel H. Rich focussing on design and synthesis of inhibitors of Cathepsin L.
His industrial career started in early 1999 as a Technology Transfer Chemist with Allied Signal / Pharmaceutical Fine Chemicals at a cGMP production site (former Syntex plant) in Freeport, Bahamas.
After joining Honeywell Specialty Chemicals Seelze GmbH (Germany) in mid of 2000 Dr. Nerenz worked in various areas including Research & Development of Organic Intermediates, Life Science Reagents and Electrolyte Systems for energy storage devices as well as in Business Development in the Life Science area.
Dr. Nerenz joined ASM Research Chemicals in 2006 in a Business Development role being responsible for customer communication and the design of synthetic routes towards novel organic compounds.
